Bolsonaro denies an attempt to blow and says he waits for “outside help”

Supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro participated on Sunday afternoon (6) in an act on Paulista Avenue, in the central region of São Paulo, called by him, to ask the amnesty those involved in the attacks of January 8 in Brasilia. The protest began around 2 pm and was centered on defending the bill in the House of Representatives granting amnesty to convicted by undemocratic acts.

In his Bolsonaro speech, he defended the hairdresser Débora Rodrigues Santos, arrested for participation in the coup attack and having stroked the statue “The Justice”, in front of the Supreme Court (STF), with a lipstick. Protesters dressed in yellow green showed lipsticks in reference to Deborah, who has already been arrested.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, she has joined the coup movement since the end of the 2022 elections, and is suspected of erasing evidence and disrupting the work of investigators and justice.

During his speech, Bolsonaro said he believed that if he were in Brazil on January 8 he would have been arrested, which did not happen because he traveled to the US on December 30, 2022. “Something warned me. If I was in Brazil I would have been arrested and would be rotting to this day or even murdered.”

The former president recalled that the lack of one of his children at the time, Eduardo Bolsonaro, who licensed the mandate of federal deputy and moved to the United States claiming political persecution. According to him, Eduardo has contact with important people from all over the world. “I hope outside will come here.”

Bolsonaro is ineligible for 8 years, until 2030, because the Electoral Court understood that the meeting with foreign ambassadors in July 2022 at the Alvorada Palace had electoral use. At the time, the then president made statements without evidence, discrediting the Brazilian electoral system.

He is a defendant for attempted coup, along with seven other people, since last month, since the unanimous decision of the First Class of the Supreme Court. The five ministers voted to accept the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). From then on, Bolsonaro and the other defendants will respond to criminal proceedings that can condemn them to prison.
