Fed is fully prepared to stabilize market if necessary, says leader

(Reuters)-The president of the Federal Reserve of Boston, Susan Collins, said on Friday that the Central Bank of the United States is “absolutely” prepared to use its tools in order to deal with the operation of the financial market, if necessary.

Although “markets continue to work well” and there is no general concern for liquidity, Collins said in an interview with Financial Times, the Fed “has tools to deal with concerns about market operation or liquidity if they appear”, noting that the bank has used these tools quickly in previous cases.

“We would be absolutely prepared to do this as needed.”
