Iron ore production from Vale sum 67.7 mi t in the 1st tri

Vale (Vale3) published on Tuesday a 4.5% drop in its iron ore production in the first quarter compared to the same period of 2024, amid a rainfall impact on the North System, while sales grew with the use of inventories.

One of the world’s leading iron ore producers, Vale produced 67.7 million tons of commodity between January and March, according to the company’s production plan, the mining company said in its production report.

Despite the retreat, Vale pointed out that the advancement of VGR1 projects in the South System and Capanema in the Southeast system ensured “greater operational flexibility and adherence to production guidance to 2025”.

Vale hopes to produce between 325 million and 335 million tons of iron ore by 2025, reaffirmed the company in the report.

Mining iron ore sales, in turn, grew by 3.6% in the same comparison to 66.1 million tons, “driven by the flexibility of Vale’s extended chain, using advanced stocks,” the company said.

The average price of Vale’s iron ore thin was $ 90.8 per ton in the quarter ended in March, a nearly 10% drop over the same period of the previous year and decline of 2.4% compared to the last quarter of 2024 ..
