More than 50 nations responded positively to tariffs

United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday that more than 50 countries responded openly and positively to the country’s President Donald Trump’s fares and that the government is anxious for significant negotiations in the coming weeks.

Bessent also criticized, in a post on the social network X, the behavior of China, which chose to “isolate herself, retaliating and bending the previous negative behavior.”

Following Trump’s telephone conversation with Japan government on Monday, the Treasury Secretary stated that he and the US commerce representative office will be in charge of opening negotiations with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and his office.

“Japan is still one of the closest allies to the United States, and I expect with our next productive commitment to tariffs, non -tariff trade barriers, currency issues and government subsidies. I appreciate the contact of the Japanese government and the thoughtful approach to this process,” he added.
