More than 50 nations have contacted the White House to start commercial negotiations since US President Donald Trump announced new and comprehensive import tariffs, US officials said on Sunday, defending the overflows that eliminated nearly $ 6 trillion in the country’s scholarships last week.
In Sunday morning interview programs, Trump’s main economic consultants sought to portray tariffs as a US repositioning in the global commercial order. They also tried to minimize last week’s economic consequences, as well as the expected turbulent opening of Asian financial markets on Monday (7).
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said more than 50 nations have started negotiations with the US since last Wednesday’s announcement. Neither Bessent nor the other authorities cited countries or offered details about negotiations.

Logistics challenge
However, simultaneous negotiations with so many countries at the same time can represent a huge logistical challenge for the Trump administration. It is unclear how long these negotiations will last.
Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick suggested on CBS News’s “Face The Nation” program that it could be the last option, saying that tariffs would remain in force “for days and weeks.”
Lutnick said that a comprehensive approach is needed for small nations not to be used by larger countries to circumvent tariffs.

“Basically, (Trump) said,” I can’t allow any part of the world to be a place where China or other countries can make shipping through them, “said Lutnick.
Billionaire Elon Musk, Trump’s counselor, said on Saturday (5) that he expected to see, in the future, total freedom of trade between the US and Europe.
Peter Navarro, Trump’s commercial advisor, ruled out the idea of a break between Musk and the Trump government regarding tariff policy, but said Tesla’s executive president was taking care of his business interests.
