Ecuador awaits the results of the second round of the presidential election this Sunday, 13, a day without major incidents. With 33% of the votes calculated, the current president, conservative Daniel Noboa, had 57.08% advantage over leftist Luisa González, who had 42.92%.
The chairman of the National Electoral Council, Diana Atamaint, reported that 83.76% of voters exercised the right to vote. A total of 13.73 million Ecuadorians have the right to vote. Voting is mandatory for citizens between 18 and 64 years old, and optional for adolescents between 16 and 17 years old and adults over 65 years.
Two polls of ballot boxes presented conflicting results at the end of the vote, leading the Electoral Council to ask people to trust only official results after the final vote is reviewed.

“We Ecuadorians experience a truly peaceful and without incident democratic celebration,” Atamaint said.
