FIFA revealed on Monday (14) the team of 117 referees for this year’s Club World Cup and said that professionals will use body cameras and apply more rigid rules to prevent goalkeepers from doing “wax” in the tournament to be held in the United States.
The FIFA Referee Committee has appointed arbitration officers from 41 different countries – 35 referees, 58 assistant referees and 24 video referees – for the event that takes place from June 14 to July 13.
According to FIFA, body cameras will provide fans with an unprecedented view of field action.

“We think it’s a good chance to offer viewers a new experience, in terms of images made from a perspective, an angle of vision never offered before,” said Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the FIFA Referee Committee.
“It also has a purpose in terms of referee training because, of course, seeing what the referee sees is important in the post-game review.”

The entity also announced that goalkeepers holding the ball for more than eight seconds in the replacement will be punished with a corner kick to the opposing team.
Collina highlighted the historical nature of the nominations for the tournament, which will feature 32 teams from all six FIFA confederations and cover 12 stadiums in 11 US host cities.
“Among the selected are those who have the privilege of being part of this for the first time, so I’m sure all the referees will be enthusiastic,” he said.

“We are coming from high -end performances in the last FIFA tournaments. So the bar is higher and when you put it higher, it’s harder to maintain the standard. But we are working hard and ‘Team One’ will make a solid contribution to the success of this exciting competition.”
