STF can judge appeals today against a decision that approved Mariana’s agreement

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) may judge on Wednesday, 9, six appeals against the decision that approved the agreement to repair the damage caused by the breach of the Fundão dam in Mariana (MG). The agreement was approved by the Court in November and provides for the payment of R $ 170 billion by mining companies Vale, BHP and Samarco.

Among the authors of the resources are indigenous associations, quilombola and fishermen. The Municipality of Ouro Preto (MG) is also one of the applicants. One of the authors, the Federation of Fisherman and Aquiculators of Espírito Santo (Fecopes), argues that the dam rupture has also affected the literal capixaba and asks the actions filed by the entity against companies not extinguished. Fecopes is not among the significance of the agreement.

The theme is the ninth item of the agenda, which indicates that the trial can be for Thursday or the coming weeks.
