Question: What was your first reaction when you got a role offer in the film ‘Coolie’?
answer: Being a part of such a big project is very exciting for anyone. Then when that enthusiasm decreased slightly, I realized that this is a tremendous character. In the world of this story, where there are many characters and stories, I got a great role.

The film ‘Coolie’ will be released on 14 August 2025.
Question: This character seems full of emotion and revenge. Have you made any special preparation for this?
answer: I did not have to make much physical preparations for the role of ‘Preeti’ because there was no action scene in it. Yes, he had to prepare emotionally. Our director Lokesh sir already knew how he wanted Preeti’s character. Everything was clean in his mind.
The conversation of both of us was also very good, he used to hear my suggestions. Because of this, when I reached the set for shooting, it seemed as if I know Preeti well because Lokesh sir’s thinking and guidance was very clear.
Question: Do you feel a difference in responsibility when you perform for Pan India Audiences?
answer: Nowadays all the films have been a kind of Indian emotional picture. The emotional core that is, not just in India, affects the world, then I always focus on that emotional core, especially with Preity’s character.

Shruti Haasan got a great recognition from the film ‘3’ (2012).
Question: There was a language challenge during the shooting of the film?
answer: No, we have shot the entire film in Tamil. Dubbing is done in other languages. Aamir sir also shot in Tamil itself.
Question: When big stars like Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna and Aamir are working together, do you feel the pressure to perform well?
answer: Working with big stars only gives inspiration. Like Rajni learned a lot from sir. As everyone feels that when Rajni sir comes on the set, the atmosphere will be heavy, people will be scared, but in fact, when they come, the whole set becomes positive, all are very relaxed.
She is very hardworking, very humble and working with them seems that we also have to be like her. Their behavior is such that all are inspired.
Question: One thing that Rajinikanth has said and she has touched your heart?
answer: Rajni sir used to encourage all on the set. One day he told me, “You are doing very well.” Then looking at everyone, he said, “Did it do well?” At that moment it felt as if the teacher in school had told all the children, “It has done a good job, clap.”
He did not say this every day, so we used to think what to do next time he would praise us again.

In 2009, Shruti made her debut as a lead actress with the Bollywood film ‘Luck’.
Question: Are you sharing the screen this time with Nagarjuna?
answer: It is very special for me to work with Nagarjuna sir. If I already know them, I feel a belonging. He is very charming and gentleman. His communication skills are very good. Working with him was a very good experience.
Question: How was the shoot experience with Aamir Khan?
answer: The experience of working with Aamir sir was nostalgic for me. I already knew him and now working with him felt like a family. I saw that he was also trying to do something new and I was also inspired by seeing his excitement.
Question: What did you like the most special thing about Lokesh Kanagaraja as a director?
answer: Lokesh sir is a very thoughtful working director. Just as the captain of the team is the director. If the captain is good, then the team also does good, he felt while working with him.
They are always calm and focused on the set. It is easy to talk to them. Never felt that he had anything to say and could not say. Many times some things plan in films but seem different at the time of shoot, but this did not happen a single time in this film.

Shruti has acted in hit films like ‘Gabbar Singh’, ‘Race Gurram’, ‘Shrimanthudu’, ‘Crack’, ‘Salar’.
Question: Has Anirudh made a special music or signature tune for your character in this film?
answer: No, I do not know. Probably not, but when Anirudh had music for his first film, I was in that film. The song ‘Kolaveri Di’ from that film was a big hit. Then I thought that he would become a big music director and he should also be made. Seeing his growth, he is very happy like a friend. I am also very excited to hear his music in this film.
Question: Any special moment during the shooting of the film that you remember and close to the heart?
answer: I cannot say directly, but the experience of working in the film was very good. The special thing about everyone was that the entire team of direction was very friendly. When we used to shoot long outdoor or late night, everyone looked like a very family. The atmosphere was very positive.
Question: What was the most challenging for you in the film?
answer: My character in the film was a very delicate and layer character. On seeing the paper on paper, it seems that it would not be difficult to understand, but it had many layers, there was a lot of responsibility for the role and it was an interesting experience for me.

Shruti is the elder daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur.
Question: What did your father Kamal Haasan say about this role?
answer: Papa did not ask anything in a lot of details about this role. Just asked the same as Papa usually asks – “How was the work? How was the shooting?” Yes, Rajinikanth sir shared his old memories with Papa on the set. He told Papa and many of his stories. That moment was very special for me.
Question: Why are your Bollywood movies not coming?
answer: Yes, after a time, when I got a good role, my focus was more on South Indian films, but now I will definitely do something in Hindi too.
