Director Anurag Kashyap’s new film ‘Nishanchi’ is scheduled to release in theaters on 19 September 2025. The film stars actor Vineet Kumar Singh in the lead role.
Prior to the release of the film, Anurag Kashyap said that he had offered the film to the first late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, but Sushant stopped replying to him, when he signed two big films ‘Dil Poor’ and ‘Drive’.
In a conversation with Galatta Plus, Kashyap said, “The actors were interested in the film, but the matter was not made with anyone. I said I will make it properly. It was the same film that I ever wanted to make with Sushant, but then he got two big films ‘Dil Poor’ and ‘Drive’. Then my film went back. Then he stopped answering, then I went ahead with him.

At the same time, while talking to NDTV, Kashyap said in 2020 that Sushant had left ‘laughter stuck’ because he received offers from YRF and Dharma Productions.
He had said, “YRF told him, we will give you a deal. You can do ‘pure desi romance’. Sushant, who used to sit with Mukesh Chhabra in my office and used to sit with us, he signed YRF and left ‘laughter stuck’ because he wanted YRF validation. It is with every actor, so I do not have any rage.”

‘Hans to Fansi’ was produced by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl. Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra were in the lead roles in it.
Anurag Kashyap also said, “Years ago, in 2016, before the release of the film ‘MS Dhoni’, Mukesh, went to Sushant and said- ‘Anurag has written a script, in which an actor is needed for the character associated with UP.’ Dhoni ‘was released, became a hit and after that Sushant did not call me.

Sushant was found dead on 14 June 2020 in his apartment in Mumbai.
