Rakesh Roshan is a name that is identified as the father of superstar Hrithik Roshan for many people. However, his real identity is not just that much. He is also the best actor, great producer and blockbuster director.
He did not get much success as an actor, but as a director he gave many superhit films. These include films like ‘Khoon Bhari Mang’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai’ and ‘Krish’. Rakesh, who was born in a garage due to the skill, today owns crores of property.

Rakesh Roshan was born in a garage
Rakesh Roshan was born on 6 September 1949. His father Roshanlal Nagrath was a famous musician. His mother Ira Moitra was a Bengali singer. Rakesh’s family is also survived by his younger brother Rajesh Roshan, a well-known composer.

Rakesh’s younger brother Rajesh made his debut with the film ‘Julie’ and gave music for films like ‘Kaho Na … Pyaar Hai’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Krish’.
Please tell that when Rakesh was born, his father was trying to establish himself as a music director.
Rakesh said in the mid -day interview about the early days of life, “I was born in Bombay. I was born in the garage of Husnlal Bhagatram, a big music director. My father came to Mumbai from Delhi and lived in a garage. So I was born in the same garage. When my father started getting work, we were shocked.
When Rakesh was 17 years old, his father passed away. After which he started working as an assistant director to support the family.

When Rakesh Roshan used to meet a producer in search of work, he would say – “I am Roshan’s son.” After which he received a lot of respect and he was called inside.

Borrowed from friends to pay the bill
There was also a time in Rakesh Roshan’s life when it became difficult for his family to spend due to less work.
In an interview to Filmfare, Rakesh had told that his wife was from a prosperous family. He brought him to his two -room apartments, but he understood his difficulties. Everyone was patient with patience and never demanded.
In Netflix’s documentary ransom, Rakesh had told that many times he had to borrow money from friends to pay the bill.
Rakesh Roshan started his career as a supporting actor in films. His first film was ‘Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani’. He acted in 84 films in the 1970s and 1980s.
However, the journey of acting was not easy. If Rakesh does not get work, then he used to call five producers every day and say – “Uncle, give me work.”
If you had got a small role, they would have played it too. They do not take the family to roam during the holidays as they did not want to disappear from the industry.

Rakesh did not get much opportunities as the lead role. He played mostly supporting roles. Some of his major supporting rolls include ‘Mana Mandir’, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, ‘Bullet’, ‘Dhongi’, ‘family’, and ‘Niyat’.
There were some films in which he got the lead role. These include ‘Paraya Dhan’, ‘Aankh Michauli’, ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Doodle’.
Rakesh Roshan got the lead role in the film ‘Priyatma’
Rakesh was going to get a big break from the 1977 film ‘Priyatma’. He felt that his good time would begin after this film, but at the last moment he was replaced with the lead role. The distributor and heroine believed that if he was in the film, the film would not run.
Rakesh had told that later he got the role of Guddu in that film, but he was very hurt and went to the roof and cursed God, “Why are you doing this with me? I am working so hard.”
Rakesh shot the same emotions in his film Koi… Mil Gaya. In this, Hrithik’s character Rohit Mehra also questions God in similar words.
When he was not getting work as an actor in films, Rakesh felt that when the producers who made films did not pick up his phone for work, then why not become a producer themselves. He then decided to become a producer.
Rakesh made his own production company Film Craft in 1980. His first film ‘Aap Ke Deewane’ was a flop, but the next film ‘Dakor’ was a hit. He played the lead role in ‘Bhagwan Dada’ (1986), but the film did not succeed at the box office.
Became director for the first time in 1987 and made ‘Khudgarj’
When the producer did not get much success as a producer, Rakesh Roshan thought of becoming a director. He also decided that he would never take himself as an actor in his films.
In 1987, Rakesh moved towards the direction. He mortgaged homes, cars and everything for his first film ‘Khudgarj’. Prior to ‘Khudgarj’, he told his wife – “Fail as an actor, failed as a producer… This is my last chance as a director, maybe God listen to me.” However, the film proved to be a blockbuster.
He then formed ‘Khoon Bhari Mang’ (1988). In 1990, he made ‘Kishan Kanhaiya’. This was followed by ‘Khel’ in 1992 and ‘King Uncle’ in 1993. These films also succeeded.
In 1995, Rakesh made ‘Karan Arjuna’. Salman and Shah Rukh’s film proved to be a blockbuster.
Launched Hrithik Roshan with ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’
In 2000, Rakesh launched his son Hrithik Roshan. The film was ‘Kaho Na … Pyaar Hai’. The film featured Hrithik and Amisha Patel in the lead role. The film was a big hit. Rakesh received the Filmfare Award for this.
In 2003, Rakesh made ‘Koi … Mile Gaya’. This was followed by ‘Krish’ (2006) and ‘Krrish 3’ (2013). These superhero films became very popular among people.
Rakesh Roshan made ‘Crazy 4’ in 2008, ‘Kites’ in 2010 and ‘Kaabil’ in 2017. ‘Crazy 4’ and ‘Kites’ averages, while ‘Kaabil’ got mixed success.
Rakesh Roshan’s personal life
Rakesh Roshan is married to Pinky Roshan. At the beginning of his career, when Rakesh was working as an assistant director. Then those parties also arranged. These parties used to visit big actors, directors and producers.

Rakesh Roshan and Pinky Roshan were married in 1970.
In these parties, a big producer J. Om Prakash’s daughter Pinky also used to come. One day Rakesh Roshan’s mother said about Pinky – “If you want to bring a daughter -in -law, then like Pinky.”
On this, Rakesh Roshan had said – “Mother, what are you talking about? I only earn 200 rupees a month.”

Rakesh Roshan and Pinky have two children, Hrithik and Sunaina. Hrithik is a Bollywood actor and Sunaina is a writer.
When Rakesh got the first film, after 4–5 days shooting, Pinky’s father J.K. Omprakash called him and said that I want to meet you. During this meeting, J. Omprakash said to him, “I have seen you, you work very hard and I want to give you my daughter’s hand.”
Rakesh was shocked to hear this. He went to his mother in another room and asked – “What did you say?” Mother replied – “I said yes.” Rakesh said on this – “I am neither earning money, nor have you made yes?”
Regarding the marriage, Pinky had told that as soon as he returned from college one day, his mother said – “We have decided your engagement.”
Pinky did not dare to ask who the boy is, but when it came to know that he was Rakesh, he was very happy. At least he is good-looking.
Rakesh Roshan fired on Rakesh Roshan
At one time Rakesh came under target of the underworld on Roshan. On 21 January 2000, two Budish gang members opened fire on Rakesh Roshan on Tilak Road in Santa Cruz, Mumbai.
Rakesh fell on the ground and the attackers fled from the spot. The accused were later identified as Sunil Vithal Gaikwad and Sachin Kamble. This attack was not done to kill Rakesh, but to show that Shiv Sena could no longer protect its clients. Rakesh had rejected the demand of Budish to give a part of the foreign earnings of his hit film ‘Kaho Na … Pyaar Hai’.
In the show of Simi Garewal about this incident, he said that he left the office at around 6.10 pm. Sitting in the car, the windscreen suddenly started breaking up. At first he felt that someone had stoned, but when he saw, two people were standing with guns and firing bullets.
He then immediately bent and asked the driver to push the car forward. Then an attacker came from the left and opened fire, which he got. Despite this, he showed courage and first called home and took information about son Hrithik’s safety.
At that time, he did not tell Hrithik much about the incident, just said that some people have fired on the car. He then alerted close friends of the family and reached the police station himself. Despite the bleeding, he first informed the police and then went to the hospital.

Once Rakesh along with his wife Pinky, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Jitendra and his wife Shobha took an entry together in a party. There the photographer dropped Rakesh and Pinky out of the group and said – “You guys come to the side a little, we have to take their photo.” At that time Rakesh felt very bad.
Rakesh Roshan has a bungalow in Khandala, which has features such as the Olympic -shaped swimming pool, private theater and spa.
According to the report of News18, his bungalow is spread over a five -acre plot and is settled in 22,400 square feet, which costs around Rs 120 crore.

Why does Rakesh Roshan start his films with ‘K’?
Rakesh Roshan had told in ANI Podcast that the story of his films starting with ‘K’ is related to a fan.
He had told, “After the film, I had announced a film called ‘Jaga Laka Mana’. At that time fan letters used to come. A fan wrote to me that you start with your films ‘K’, because all the films started with ‘K’ are hit- like doodle, beautiful, sour sweet, family in sports, sports.”
Initially, Rakesh did not pay much attention to this. After this, he made ‘Awake Hoop Man’ and ‘Lord Dada’, but when the story of Khudarjar was handed over, he felt that this name would be good. The film was released and became a hit.
After this, the same fan again wrote that this time you obeyed me and the film went on. Rakesh said that this thing sat in his mind somewhere. Since then, he decided to start his films with ‘K’.
