Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was about to make a comeback in Bollywood with the film Abir Gulal, although the film was banned after the Pahalgam terror attack. After a long controversy, the film has been released in many countries besides India on 12 September. It was claimed that Abir Gulal would be released in India on 26 September. Now PIB (Press Information Bureau) has made it clear that the film will not be released in India.
A post has been shared on PIB’s official X platform (first Twitter), it is claimed by several media outlets that Fawad Khan and Vani Kapoor starrer film Abir Gulal will be released in Indian cinemas on 26 September. This claim is fake. The film has not received any kind of clearance.
After the news of the release of the film Abir Gulal in India, BN Tiwari, president of FWICE (Film Federation of Western Cinema Employees), made it clear in an interview to Dainik Bhaskar that the film would not be allowed to be released in India at any cost.
He said-
The Federation has always opposed Pakistani artists. If Fawad Khan’s film is released in India, then we will oppose it from our federation and film industry. We will also request the theater owners not to release such a film. Even today, Pakistan’s actions are not good for India. Still, if we respect Pakistani artists, let their films release, then what is the place of Indian artists. This is our insult. When we talk about the Pahalgam attack and talk of self -respect, the release of the film is very gross insult. We oppose it and will not allow the film to be released in India.
Film protest in India after Pahalgam terror attack
Let us tell you that the film Abir Gulal was banned after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, although the opposition had already started. The trailer of the film was released on 1 April, after which Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) started opposing it. MNS spokesperson Amay Khopkar had said in an interview to Dainik Bhaskar that in any case the film will not be allowed to be released in Maharashtra. At the same time, he wrote on social media, despite saying many times that the Pakistani artist’s film will not be released in India, some cheap people are plaguing, the work of crushing such people will be the work of the soldier. We will and will continue to do. This does not mean that Abir Gulal will not be released in India.
Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam said about Fawad Khan’s film, ‘India has a large number of hatred from Pakistan. When a film is released from Pakistan, Indian people do not like to watch it. It is different to watch a single film for a minute, but Pakistan’s artist films are not very popular in Indian audiences. That is why the stars of Pakistan could never succeed in India. I would advise Pakistanis to explore the market of India to work in their own country.
Let us tell you that the film Abir Gulal was scheduled to release on 9 May. The film stars Fawad Khan and Vani Kapoor in the lead roles, while the side role also stars Lisa Hayden, Soni Razdan, Riddhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Parmeet Sethi. The shooting of the film started in London on 29 September 2024, and it was Aarti S.K. Bagri has directed. Its producers are Vivek Aggarwal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy.
