Rajkummar Rao’s film ‘Malik’ has been released in theaters today. Directed by Pulkit, the film has an important role in Raj Kumar Rao besides Raj Kumar Rao, besides Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, Saurabh Shukla, Anshuman Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire and Huma Qureshi. The film, struggling between the hunger, personal loss, caste politics and a conflict with the system, is 2 hours 29 minutes. The film has been rated by Dainik Bhaskar 3.5 out of 5.
What is the story of the film?
Prayagraj of 1988. The farmer’s son Deepak (Rajkumar Rao) descends into the world of crime after a painful accident. Gradually he becomes a ‘owner’. The name that people are afraid, but also respect. Shalini (Manushi Chillar) comes in her life like an expectation, but crime and love do not go together. There are many twists in the film, and as the height of the lamp increases, its world becomes more dangerous.
How is the acting of Starcast?
Rajkummar Rao is the soul of the entire film. In a scene where he is talking only with eyes by putting a rope around his enemies, the same scene proves that he lives acting. Manushi Chillar has acted with full honesty, but his character is lacking in depth. In the role of a gangster’s wife, she becomes light in some places.
Prosonjit Chatterjee’s character could have been strong, but his appearance on the screen was not as impressive. Artists like Saurabh Shukla, Swanand Kirkire and Anshuman Pushkar are also effective in supporting roles. Anshuman has also left a deep impression in limited screen time.
How is direction and technical side?
Pulkit’s direction is quite mature. He has introduced the political and criminal atmosphere of North India in Raw and real style. The screenplay is the first half quite tight, but the second half has some looseness. Dialogues are sharp, pointed and effective. In sensitography, Anuj Rakesh Dhawan has imprisoned the 90s atmosphere in sepia tone. Editing is mostly sharp, but some places the film seems to be drawn. The background score strengthens both the speed and spirit of the film. Huma Qureshi’s item number ‘Dil Thaam Ke’ is attractive, but does not match the overall tone of the film. This song lightens the severity of the film for a few moments.
