Himesh Reshammiya was born on 23 July 1973 in Mumbai. His father was a famous music director. Vipin Reshammiya was one of the early musicians to bring electronic music devices (such as synthesizer and drum machines) on stage in India.
Himesh considered his father his guru. Vipin Reshammiya died on 18 September 2024 at the age of 87.
When Himesh was 12 years old, there was a big change in his life. His elder brother passed away. After this incident, Himesh made music his life. However, this journey was not so easy.
Himesh started his career by producing many serials of Zee TV. It included shows like ‘Andaz’, ‘Aha’, ‘Aman’, ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Amar Prem’ and ‘Jaan’. He also made the title track of these shows. This process continued for many years.
The turning point in Himesh’s life came when Salman heard a composition of him, he was impressed and gave him a chance to give music in his film.
In 1998, Himesh made his debut as a music director with Salman Khan’s film ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’. For this film, he made two songs ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ and ‘Tum Par Hum Hain Atk’. Both these songs were hits.
After this, Himesh also gave music in films like ‘Bandhan’ and ‘Hello Brother’. ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’ was his first film in which he gave music alone. Himesh got recognition from the film ‘Hamraj’. He received a nomination at the Filmfare Award for the music of this film.
After giving music in another Salman’s film ‘Tere Naam’, he came into more discussion. For the music of this film, he received honors like ‘Zee Cine Award’ and ‘Screen Award’.
In 2004, he gave music in ten films. It also included ‘objection’. In 2005 too, he worked for ten films. This year he started Playback Singing. His song ‘Aashiq Bana Aapne’ became very popular. For this, he received many awards like ‘Filmfare’.
Himesh Reshammiya has composed more than 1,300 songs in his career.

Himesh’s first marriage was at a very young age. He married Komal Reshammiya, from whom he has a son himself, but gradually the distance between the two increased. In 2016, Himesh and Komal decided to divorce. At that time Komal told the media that there is no dispute in his marriage, just the difference between time and thinking has come.

According to the Times of India report, Himesh Reshammiya’s famous song “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” was banned in a village in Vadodara. The villagers claimed that after listening to this song, dead souls wake up and scary incidents happen in the village.
The villagers believed that the line of this song “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa … Once Aa Ja …” calls the spirits. People said that there were strange incidents in the village due to the song. The rumor spread so much that the song was completely banned in the village.

In 2007, Himesh apologized after a controversy arising on the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer on wearing a burqa.
According to the Hindustan Times report, Himesh had reached Ajmer to pray before the release of his debut film Aap Ka Surur. After which the Sadar Committee of the Dargah accused him of making fun of the Muslim religious tradition.
