The Guwahati police on Wednesday arrested Assam actress Nandini Kashyap. He is accused of driving in the hit and run case of death of a 21 -year -old student.
The accident took place in Southgaon area of Guwahati at around 3 pm on 25 July. The deceased was identified as Samiul Haq, a student of Nalbari Polytechnic.
The CCTV footage of the incident showed that the student was returning home, when a Bolero SUV hit him.
According to eyewitnesses, the car actress was driving. She did not stop after the collision and ran away from the spot. Samiul’s friends chased the SUV and tracked him in an apartment in Kahilipada.
Nandini is a resident of Kashyap Guwahati and has graduated from Meghalaya University of Science and Technology in 2021.
After the accident, the student was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he died during treatment.
According to Hindustan Times report, the student’s family said Samiul had serious head injuries. There were many fractures in both legs. It was also told that his hands and thigh bones were also broken.
Family members claim that the actress promised to bear the cost of treatment but did not contact again.
Nandini has been associated with the world of films since 2018. She has also been associated with theater and has been active in Assam’s mobile theater tradition.
Police detained the actress at Panbazar Mahila police station on Wednesday morning.
Talking to the local news network Jiplus, the police said that their arrest took place at 1:30 pm on Wednesday night. We have added Section 105 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
Before the arrest, the police seized and interrogated his car, in which he refused to have a role.
