The Supreme Court on Thursday canceled the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case and canceled the bail given to the rest. The bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan rejected the Karnataka High Court’s order saying that it had many flaws.

During the hearing, Justice Pardiwala said that this decision gives the message that no matter how big the accused is, he is not above the law.

The court directed the officials to immediately detain all the accused, including the actor Darshan. Also warned the state government to provide special facilities to them in jail.

The decision came on a petition of the Government of Karnataka, which was filed against the High Court on 13 December 2024 against the order to give darshan and co-accused bail.

The rest of the accused, including Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, are accused of kidnapping and harassing a fan named 33 -year -old Renukaswamy.

Police say Renuka was tortured for three days in a shed in Bengaluru in June 2024. His body was later found in a drain.

The rule of law should be maintained at all times, this demand for time- Justice Pardiwala

During the hearing, Justice Pardiwala said, “There is a tough message in the judgment that the system that gives justice should ensure law at every level, at all costs. No person is above or below the law. Neither do we ask for permission of anyone when we follow it. The time demands time to rule the law at all times.”
