The Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) will take legal action against the influencer who posts negative reviews to make money from producers. IFTPC has given information about this by releasing a press release. The press release has raised concern over the tendency to threaten to post malicious or derogatory content if the demand is not met.

IFTPC has described this action as freedom of expression and forced recovery out of the scope of fair criticism. The council has announced that it will take legal opinion from the top lawyers to detect both civil and criminal options.

The council says that the move aims to protect the creative and economic interests of the film and television industry. Also, it is to ensure that real, creative criticism is welcomed.

Let me tell you that for some time there were constant reports that big influencers demand money from producers in exchange for film reviews. When their demand is not met, they threaten negative reviews. A few days ago, ‘Saira’ director Mohit Suri also spoke on this issue. In a conversation with Faridun Shaharyar, he told that some people tried to blackmail him for positive reviews. Mohit had said- ‘Some of them also called me and said, we are going to write a bad review, as long as you…. I said, ‘Write, I will not read. I will make a film, you have the right to see or not. Similarly, you make your content. I will not read it. ‘

Before Mohit, in March this year, Al Jazeera published an article called ‘Bollywood Dirty Secret’, which said that 70-80 percent reviews are done with money. In his report, he also published the rate card of film critics as to who reviews how much money. For this report, Al Jazeera spoke to more than 20 film professionals, critics, PR executives and social media reviews. He confirmed that it is common to pay for praise and publicity in Bollywood.

At the same time, in the year 2024, actor Vidyut Jamwal also made a tweet on this issue, which was very popular. Vidyut had made a big allegation against his well-known film Critic Sumit Kadale about his film ‘Crack’. The actor accused the film Critic and accused them of rating the film.

Posting on X, Vidyut wrote- ‘It is crime to ask for bribe and give it to Crime. I do not have to pay crime? Sumit Kadale, so whenever you praise someone, we know about that criminal. ‘ Vidyut has also shared a screenshot with the post in which it is seen that Sumit Kadel has blocked the actor on X.

Let us know that IFTPC is a group of more than 375 TVs and film producers across the country. The council includes production houses of many famous people including Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ekta Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Madhur Bhandarkar, Akshay Kumar, Disney, EROS, Nadiadwala Grandsons, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
