A Mumbai magistrate court has issued a notice to actress Riya Chakraborty. This notice has been sent in connection with the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The report is related to the case of the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The CBI presented this report in March 2025.

According to India Today, Magistrate R.D. Chavan directed during the hearing, “Issue notice to the original complainant / victim / affected person.” He deferred further proceedings till the notice was served. Riya has been asked to reply by 12 August.

This notice is part of the legal process, in which the complainant is given an opportunity to object to the report of the investigating agency.

Riya filed a case against Sushant sisters in 2020

Riya Chakraborty lodged a complaint against Sushant’s sisters Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh in 2020 in this case. It also included the name of Dr. Tarun Nathu Ram.

Riya had alleged that these people ordered prescription medicines for Sushant without monitoring the doctor.

Riya said that Sushant had a bipolar disorder and was not regular in treatment. He often stopped taking medicines.

Riya had said in the complaint that despite the mental health situation, the sister only called for medicines through messages. He also claimed that the prescription used was fake.

In this complaint, sections of the Indian Penal Code and the NDPS Act were imposed.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on 14 June 2020 in his Bandra house. After his death, Riya had registered the case in Bandra.

The case was first investigated by the Mumbai and Bihar Police, later the CBI took it into its hand. In March, the CBI said in its report that no evidence of criminal conspiracy has been found against anyone.
