C-Smash VRS is set to launch on PlayStation 5 with hybrid play on September 26, 2024. The game, originally released for PSVR 2 in March 2023, will now include a hybrid version that can be played both in VR and on a flat screen. This update is free for existing PSVR 2 owners of the game.

C-Smash VRS, a modern take on SEGA’s classic, combines low-gravity racket sports with block-breaking challenges. The game is known for its unique mix of physical activity and immersive virtual reality experience, making it a popular choice among VR enthusiasts.

The new update, called “C-Smash VRS: New Dimension,” introduces several new features. It includes a third-person perspective, new game modes such as Head-to-Head, Firewall, Quickshot, and Training, as well as an AI BOT for solo play. The game’s developer, Wolf & Wood, aims to enhance the player’s sense of presence by focusing on how the game feels through the controller’s analog sticks.

In addition to the third-person view, the update will offer co-op modes and a new Infinity mode. The co-op mode allows two players to play side by side, working together to smash blocks and keep the ball in play. Infinity mode is a fast-paced challenge where players must continuously smash or dodge blocks while keeping the ball in play.

The update also brings emotes to the game, allowing players to communicate through actions like waving and dancing. Other new features include dozens of new levels, new block types like Multiball and Portal, and instant replay functionality. Music from British electronic music group UNKLE will be added to the soundtrack, enhancing the game’s audio experience.

C-Smash VRS has received positive feedback for its engaging gameplay and innovative use of VR technology. The game’s intuitive controls and accessibility options make it suitable for a wide range of players, whether they prefer to play standing, seated, or using one or both hands.

The game is available for purchase on the PlayStation Store and offers a free demo for new players to try out. With the new update, C-Smash VRS aims to attract both new and returning players by providing a fresh and dynamic gaming experience.
