July 13, 2024 – PlayStation has announced the Early Access Beta for Concord, a new first-person shooter, which is now available for all PlayStation Plus members. This weekend event, from July 12 to July 14, is a chance for players to get an early look at the game before its official release.

Concord is a 5v5 arena shooter developed by Firewalk Studios. The game emphasizes strategic gameplay with unique characters and various maps. During the beta, players can choose from several characters, each with distinct abilities and playstyles. This allows for diverse and dynamic matches.

The Early Access Beta includes four maps:

  1. Freewater – Set on the sun-scorched planet of Glance, this map features intersecting lanes and a central courtyard, ideal for intense combat.
  2. Water Hazard – Located on Leviathan, players battle on a floating rig, navigating both the platform and the jaws of a massive eel.
  3. Star Chamber – An ancient observatory on the planet Gloom offers narrow corridors and a central meteorite, perfect for team fights.
  4. Shock Risk – Set beneath a lightning-harvesting kite on Leviathan, this map features various arenas converging on a central tower.

Players can engage in three modes during this beta:

  1. Trophy Hunt – A respawn mode where teams collect bounty cards from defeated enemies to earn points.
  2. Cargo Run – A no-respawn mode where teams compete to retrieve and defend a robotic package delivery system.
  3. Clash Point – A round-based, no-respawn mode where teams fight to control a central capture zone.

Following this weekend, an Open Beta will be available from July 18 to July 21, which includes a fifth map, Bone Mines, on the planet Akkar. This map features close-quarters and mid-range combat in a mining operation setting. Additionally, a new mode, Area Control, will be introduced, where teams fight to control multiple zones on the map.

The game aims to blend fast-paced action with strategic elements, making each match unique. Concord is set to release on August 23 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
