The great playwright William Shakespeare said, ‘What is the name in the name. Work should be good. ‘ Bullu Kumar, who had a quarrel with the father for the passion of the drama and now from Madhav of the Panchayat for the passion of the drama.

Bullu sat down from Art and stage in childhood. Such madness about theater and acting that never persecuted livelihood. The result itself was also paid to themselves and the family also endured.

People nearby believed that no actor is formed with ordinary name and simple appearance, but today Bullu Kumar has proved all those things wrong with his performance.

The story of Bullu Kumar in today’s success story…

I changed my name in fifth grade

I come from Gondar Bigha, a very beautiful village in Nawada district of Bihar. Dad used to do farming. He named both of us brothers Bhagat and Chandrashekhar. My real name was Chandrashekhar Kumar. By the fifth people knew me by this name. The name of the call was Bullu in the village.

It was only in the fifth, when I felt a confusion about the name. So something happened that whenever the letter came from outside, the real name of the people was written on it. Once a letter came to my house for someone. Shailendra was written on it.

Seeing him, I felt that there is no one in the house of this name. Later it was discovered that we called Shalo Dada, his real name is Shailendra. Then I decided that from now on, both my call and outside will be the same name Bullu Kumar.

What is in a name. If I do a good job, then my name will mean a good meaning. If done wrong, whatever the name is, it will mean wrong. Do I know if I did something good, then someone should name his child in the future. Thinking this, I got my name Bullu Kumar in the high school.

Papa wanted to take a government job

My village is situated on the river bank. What should I tell the beauty of my village. There were 50-60 houses along the river. The farm at a distance of five hundred meters of the river, then the paved road and the mountain across it. There is such a beautiful village that he did not feel like leaving it out. After the high school, he went for further studies.

While leaving the house, he often used to cry. Childhood in the village is spent in the middle of nature. Sometimes they are catching fish from the river and sometimes they are circling the fields and barns. When there was more excitement, the mountain used to climb. Then he used to sit there and stare at the entire village.

Bullu Kumar’s parents died at an interval of six months.

My father may be a farmer, but we wanted to teach both brothers a lot. He wanted English to come. Dad used to say to take a government job. Whether you do a peon job, but should be government. I was going to study alone at home, so people had some hope from me.

Started singing to go to high school

Was in the fifth grade, when a teacher said that you will not be able to go to the high school until you sing the song. I also had greed in my mind. I had to sit here laying a sack. A bench was found to sit in high school. I used to listen to a hymn in the temple every day, I heard that hymn that day. In this way my first step towards Art took.

When I went to the high school, my Sanskrit teacher was very good there. He also loved me a lot. The seed of poetry-story came inside me because of them. I was very fond of reading Hindi story, jokes. If I saw something in the waste, I used to read it.

One day I found a book of Magahi poetry. I heard that poem in class. Everyone liked it very much and asked me if this poem is yours. I felt that I was getting praised, so why should I tell the real name. Because of this I kept quiet.

Later I felt very bad that I told someone else’s poem my own. At the same time I decided that now I will write myself. After that every two-three days I started writing a poem. Then I started reciting parody in class.

I got banned on the stage of the village

I started watching the drama ever since I took consciousness. I used to enjoy seeing the drama very much. One of my class teachers told me that there is a play in your village. You are doing so well in school, take part in the village drama too. The drama stage of my village was very disciplined.

One day I got a chance at night after lobbying a lot. My job was to go on stage and listen to a joke and song. I went to a song and joke, but when I saw people from the stage, I forgot everything. Neither I was able to speak the joke there nor sing the song.

After that incident, I went into a gilt. The people of the village told me that you are useless. You insulted the stage. Then I was banned from the village stage. I was unhappy with this for a long time, but I tried once again to that stage and proved myself. After that it happened that I was the most favorite artist of that platform.

Diploma in drama with job preparation

While graduating in Gaya, I used to watch Patna Doordarshan. Then it used to come to the mind that one day it has to come on it. When my elder brother died, then I came to prepare for Patna job. Brother was alone to earn at home. After his departure, the pressure came to me that the family will be shattered if he does not get a job.

Five months after coming to Patna, suddenly one day I saw the poster of the play outside Kalidas Rangalaya. Before that, I felt that the drama is only in the village. I went inside Kalidas Rangalaya and saw an hour’s drama.

After the drama was over, I felt that this thing is happening in the city too, that is, there is a value. I should also do this. I did a two -year diploma in drama from Kalidas Rangalaya with studies. After taking the course, he was in a rage for two years whether to do a job or acting. Finally I chose acting. I did theater in Patna for about ten years.

Dad used to fight every day about theater

While doing theater in Patna for ten years, I had done my surveillance as soon as possible, but could not do anything for the family. The theater became a passion for me. During that time, whenever I talked to my father, there would be only a fight.

It was not that he did not know the theater, but he wanted me to handle the house a little, then whatever I want to do. I do not understand that thing about father then. Today, when I have become a father, I understand his words. My father often used to say that drama-noddanki.

I got married in the year 2008. Friends also started saying that your family and child are children. Why don’t you do any other work? Earlier, the most fighting was done. I started reacting too much, but then slowly started to calm myself.

Dad gave his gathering to come to Mumbai

I came to Mumbai in 2011. I did a show called ‘Hansi Ka Tadka’ for Mahua Channel. That show became quite popular. After winning the show, I felt that now my world is going to change. Father gave 25 thousand rupees to come to Mumbai. She was his gathering.

I came to Mumbai with my two friends. The day I reached Mumbai, I went for the shoot. Another show of Amitabh Verma, director of the show ‘Hansi Ka Tadka’, was coming. I was also on that show. In such a situation, my first and a few days ahead in Mumbai were good.

Then gradually my money was over and the work was nothing special. In such a situation, Mumbai also had to leave the house. I went back to Patna and started doing theater. Then again I moved to Mumbai in 2013. I was offered a film called ‘Gutargun’.

People stopped working when they become main leads

It was Chhath’s time and I went to my village for drama. At the same time, I received a call from the theater senior from Patna. He told me that some people have come for auditions. If I have the role of the inspector, then I think you are perfect for it. I finished my drama and went to Patna and auditioned.

In the evening I was called home by Prateek Sharma and Asmita ji and told that you are doing the main lead. I am the main lead in the film, hearing this, I came out of my mouth that who will see the film again?

I was in my mind that who would like to see such a simple face in the main lead. This film raised my hope and I came to Mumbai again. I felt that there will be a lot of work now, but it turned upside down with me. I stopped getting work. I wanted to do any kind of role, but a lot of filmmakers felt that I would only do the lead role.

When I called a director for work, he told me that Bullu ji, you are playing the lead. Then I realized that it has sat in the minds of people that I will not do anything other than the lead. I wasted three to four years in this affair.

There was no money to pay school fees for children at one time

I did not have work during the lockdown, so I returned to my village. I went there and started farming. Before the lockdown, my financial condition was so bad that my children were expelled from school. I could not pay their fees. I used to think that it is not now, I will give it a few days later, but the schoolmates did not agree. They cut the names of the children. I had also fought.

To tell the truth, there was a lot of trouble. Then in the lockdown, a mountain of sorrows broke on me. First my mother passed away, then Dad also died within 6 months. I used to leave my wife and children near them and struggle in Mumbai. I lost courage when both of them left. I was living my life in the village. At the same time, I received a call from Mukesh Chhabra, the biggest casting director of the industry.

A series named ‘Eclipse’ was being made for Hotstar. For the first time I got the work of mainstream. This was Hotstar’s first hit show. After ‘taking’, my wife felt that I could do something better. He told me that you go to Mumbai, we will all handle here.

The entire Versova had auditioned for ‘Panchayat’

I came back to Mumbai and lived with a friend in Bangur Nagar. One day while staying in Bangur Nagar, I was traveling around Aramnagar. At the same time I got a junior of mine. He told me that he has a knowing boy who is casting the panchayat. He told me that you send your profile. I immediately sent my profile and got an audition from there.

I had the theater experience, no idea of cinema. In such a situation, the friend I stopped with, made a good audition for me. He had a TV experience. I sent an audition and got selected. In this way I became Madhav of Panchayat, but in the meantime I also worked in series like ‘Khaki’, ‘Runway Lugai’, ‘Maharani’, ‘The Railwayman’.

‘Panchayat’ series proved to be a boon for me

Nobody knew me and my work before ‘Panchayat’. This series gave me the identity for which I had been struggling since 2011. This series made another change in my life that I do not have to audition anymore. Right now the fifth season of ‘Panchayat’ is coming. Apart from this, I am also doing a film of Amit Rai. Apart from this, I am working. As an actor, there is so much wish that work continues. Not only Madhav, my identity became with different characters.
