On Saturday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) sent a letter to actor Karthik Aryan. The letter was about an event to be held in Houston, USA, which has been organized by a Pakistani owner’s restaurant.
FWICE also shared a poster with the letter, showing Karthik as the chief guest of the event.
However, the actor’s team made it clear that they had nothing to do with this program.
The statement from the team said:
Karthik Aryan has no relation with this program. He never made any official announcement to join it. We have approached the organizers and requested to remove all the promotional materials with their name and picture.
What was written in FWICE letter
On this whole matter, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) sent a letter to Karthik, which wrote:
“This event is being organized by a Pakistani person and the participation of Indian artists in it can be considered against the national spirit. If you did not know the background of the organizer, now you appeal to you to immediately separate yourself and if you were aware of this, then this theme becomes more concern.”
FWICE also reminded in its letter that after Uri in 2016 and Pulwama terrorist attacks in 2016, the industry had taken a collective decision to stay away from Pakistani artists and events.
Fwice wrote,
This case is related to anxiety and responsibility. We have received information that you are going to participate in the ‘Azadi Utsav’ program to be held on 15 August 2025 in Houston, America. In the poster of the program, you are shown as the chief guest. While such events are part of Indian cultural pride abroad, we are sorry that the event is being organized by the Pakistani ownership Aga ‘Restaurant and Catering. Its owner is Shaukat Maradia.
