Father Ajmer Dhanda retired the driver from the Animal Husbandry Department. Pooja started wrestling from Mahavir Stadium in Hisar. Today she gives wrestling training to children in this stadium. Pooja’s mother Kamlesh Dhanda is a housewife.

Pooja Dhanda also won a silver medal for India at the Youth Olympics. Apart from this, she has won the medal in the Commonwealth Games. He rejected the offer of Dangal film.
