Abhinav Kashyap, director of the film ‘Dabangg’, recently told that it was not easy to convince Salman and Arbaaz to take Malaika Arora in the famous song ‘Munni Badnaam’. Salman and Arbaaz were initially against it.
In a conversation with the screen, Abhinav said, “Arbaaz was not in favor of taking Malaika in this song. He did not like that his wife would be called a ‘item girl’. Arbaaz and Salman, no matter what, are actually very conservative Muslims. There were differences with Malaika about clothes with Salman. They wanted women to be covered.
Malaika decided to sing herself
Abhinav Kashyap also said, “Malaika is a strong and independent -minded woman. She takes her decisions. When she offered this song, she said yes. It took Arbaaz a little time to celebrate. He explained to him that there is nothing obscene in it. There is no dance and the whole family is also seen in the song. Arbaaz is finally seen.” Abhinav told that the song later broke the record.
The song ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ was released in the year 2010. The song was part of Salman Khan’s film ‘Dabangg’.
Director Abhinav Kashyap also explained the reason for taking Malaika. He said, “Malaika had already become famous with songs like ‘Chaiya-Chaiya’ and ‘Hoth Rasile’. She did not do much acting roles. We needed a face that could handle the entire song on her own. She is a great dancer and when a face looks less on the screen, people are more keen to see him.”
Arbaaz and Malaika married in 1998. The two separated 18 years later in 2016 and divorced in 2017. However, he still handles son Arhan together.
Abhinav said, “The song became very good. When Salman heard it, he said that he too has to be a part of it. Initially, he had a plan that he would enter after the song and by then Sonu Sood would be seen partying. Like Amjad Khan’s character in the song ‘Mehbooba’ of the film ‘Sholay’ was shown to have fun. Said that this is the best song and so I have already given him an entry in the song. “
