Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film The Bengal files released on 5 September are not being allowed to be released in West Bengal despite the approval from the Censor Board. On this, Abhay Sinha, President of IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association), has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in this matter.
Giving information about this from his social media account, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri wrote that the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMMPA) has written a letter to PMO and Narendra Modi, strongly supporting The Bengal files, to intervene against the illegal and unconstitutional ban on the film by the Government of West Bengal (Mamata Banerjee).

It is written in a letter sent by IMPPA to Prime Minister Narendra Modi-

We request you to immediately intervene in the release of the film “The Bengal Files” produced by our member Iambuddha Entertainment and Media Limited. The film has been duly certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for public performance and hence has full legal right to showcase it across the country. Nevertheless, the film is not being released in the state of West Bengal. Despite not being officially restricted, indirect sanctions have been imposed on the film, due to which the public is not getting the appropriate opportunity to see it.
It is further written that producers and distributors are facing threats and obstacles, while the state government has failed to ensure the security, law and proper environment necessary for the film’s independent and fair release. We want to draw your attention to the production of this film and its cost is possible only through its public performance. If its release is banned, it will cause huge economic loss to the producers, distributors and the entire film industry.

Finally, it has been written, we politely request you to intervene immediately in this matter, so that the law can be ruled and the film can be released without any hindrance. We politely request that the state government play an important role in protecting certified artifacts and ensuring their safe performance. We are confident that you will take necessary steps immediately to protect the rights of filmmakers and maintain the sanctity of the certification process.
The film Federation also expressed resentment on this ban
Prior to IMPPA, FWICE (Film Federation of Western Cine Employees) also expressed displeasure over the release of The Bengal files in West Bengal. He says that the ban on the film informally is wrong.

The FWICE said that it is surprising that a film, which has been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), is facing such informal ban, whether such tasks are done directly or hiding, they harm the freedom to speak and say their words. This also affects the hard work and freedom of those film makers, who show the stories necessary for the society with their work. If a film is stopped without any government order or legal reason, it is not just wrong, but can become a dangerous example about films later.
