Voice of Amritsar (VOA) has once again extended the service of service to help people affected by the recent floods in Punjab. This time the Meera Foundation, established by Shah Rukh Khan, has also come forward to help the flood victims in collaboration with VOA.

Meera Foundation, which is known to help the acid attack victims across the country, will now provide necessary assistance to flood -affected families in Punjab. Around 500 affected families will be distributed beds, mattresses, gas stoves, fans, water purifying machines, clothes and other essential household items under the project prepared by VOA.

These families live mainly in villages on the banks of the Ravi river and their houses, goods and employment have been badly affected due to floods. The goal of the institution is that these families should be helped in making them self -sufficient and they should be provided necessary means for living.

Earlier, Voice of Amritsar along with doctors of AIIMS, New Delhi had set up medical camps in flood affected areas. In these camps set up in Gurudwara Baba Budha Sahib, Ramdas, village Machhiwada and village Ghanovala, the team of doctors provided free health check -ups, medicines and consultation. Thousands of people could take advantage of these camps and get treatment on time.

Bollywood’s famous comedian Kapil Sharma and Punjabi singer Jasbir Jasi also supported this service work. Both of them encouraged doctors and volunteers with their support and played an active participation in relief work.

Flood will help in education of affected children-VOA Voice of Amritsar has announced that it will help in the education of flood affected children by running “anchor of learning”. Under this initiative, children will be provided free books, copies, stationery and other educational materials. Children who need help can contact the institution.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma, the founding member of VOA, and President Indu Arora said that they thank all the colleagues who have come forward in a difficult time. He expressed confidence that the people of Punjab would again stand on their feet and recover from the disaster like flood and move forward with new energy and expectation.

Dr. Sharma said that service work is not limited to giving relief only, but it is an attempt to connect society, increase self -reliance and strengthen morale. This initiative will not only provide relief to the flood victims, but will also spread the spirit of service, social solidarity and humanity. Appeal has been made to every section of the society to contribute to this service and come forward to help the needy. The people of Punjab are confident that by serving service, cooperation and collective efforts they will be able to live a happy life again.
