Salman Khan’s film ‘Sikander’ released on the occasion of Eid failed at the box office. The film’s director AR Murugadas has broken the silence on it four months after its release. During the promotion of his next Tamil film ‘Madarasi’, the filmmaker talked about Alexander’s failure and blamed his inability to understand Hindi behind it.

According to the news of the Indian Express, the director has said that when he works in a Hindi film, he feels crippled due to the language. He says- ‘Working in your mother tongue Tamil is my biggest strength because I know what works here. Young audiences can be wooed by using trending captions and dialogues on social media. But I unfortunately, I cannot do it in other languages, especially Hindi. I can depend only on the screenplay for the success of the film there.

Made at a cost of Rs 200 crore, Alexander earned Rs 177 crore at the box office.

He further says- ‘For once, I can take Telugu films, but Hindi will not work for us because when I write a script, they translate it to English. Then it is translated into Hindi. I can only guess what is happening in the scene, but I do not understand closely in it. When you make a film in an unknown language and place, it seems that you are crippled. It seems as if you do not have hands. I believe in the fact that our strength depends on where and from which culture we come. ‘

Significantly, ‘Alexander’ was not the first Hindi film of AR Murugadas. He earlier made Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Holiday: A Soldier is Never of Duty’ in 2014. The film with a budget of Rs 50 crore did a business of Rs 180 crore.

Murugadas Tamil, Telugu and Hindi have worked in all three languages.

At the same time, in the year 2008, he made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film ‘Ghajini’. Aamir Khan starrer The film made the box office wonderful in terms of earnings. Made at a cost of Rs 52 crore, the film earned around 200 crores at the box office.

Let me tell you that ‘Ghajni’ was his Tamil films ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Holiday’ was the Hindi remake of his Tamil film ‘Thuppakki’.
