Aruna Irani has appeared in more than 500 films so far.

Sometimes it seemed why I was born a girl. Saw poverty since childhood, dreamed of becoming a doctor, but the situation did not support. Due to the financial constraints of the house, he had to leave his studies only after the sixth grade, but when I see today’s girls raising my voice for their rights, a voice comes out from the heart, I wish I should go to this world soon and return as a girl again. I have to live today’s era.
This was said by Aruna Irani during an interview. Today, even though Aruna is living a life of asho-charam, there was a time when there were even food in her house.
Seeing the financial condition of the family, he had entered the film world at the age of just 9. Gradually, success was also achieved, but then news of love with Mahmud ruined a career. However, while fighting all these difficulties, he created a distinct identity in Hindi cinema.
Today, Aruna knows Irani on the 79th birthday, some interesting stories related to her life …

Childhood was spent in extreme poverty, eaten rice and onion in food
Aruna Irani’s childhood day was spent in extreme poverty. His father could not earn anything special from the drama company and he used to blow up in gambling. He was often ill. In such a situation, his mother used to run home by doing small roles in films. Many times there was nothing to eat in the house. Many times he used to live only by eating onion and rice. Despite this, he never considered his poverty as weakness.
In the podcast of Kunika Sadanand, Aruna said- even though we were living in a crisis, we were still happy in our world. Perhaps this is why childhood always looks beautiful, because if you have a lot of money, then it is not understood. And even if there is nothing, there is no lack of deficiency, because it becomes a habit. So what they used to eat used to eat and be happy.
Was eating food at the stall, Dilip Kumar asked- Will you work in films?
In the 60s, only agents used to take children to audition. One day an agent came and took all the children to audition for a film, including Aruna. At that time Aruna felt who would select her, but if she goes, she will get to eat something good, so she went away. Instead of auditioning there, Aruna started eating and drinking. Then Dilip Kumar, who was present there, caught sight of him. He made a loud voice, O girl, you come here and asked, will you work in films?
After this, Dilip Kumar offered him a role in his film Ganga Jamuna. It was here that Aruna Irani’s film career started. These things were told by Aruna in a conversation with ANI. After this she also appeared in films like illiterate (1962), Jahanara (1964), Farz (1967), Upkar (1967) and Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke (1969).

Aruna Irani started as a child artist from the 1961 film Ganga Jamuna.
Lead actress, for the first time in Bombay to Goa, came to see Amitabh Bachchan
Aruna was constantly working in films and was also getting identity, but she was not getting the role of lead actress, so most of the side rolls. Then in the film Bombay to Goa, she got a chance for the first time as a lead actress, in which she appeared with Amitabh Bachchan. The film was directed by Mahmud.
In a conversation with ANI, Aruna Irani told that every artist dreams of playing the lead role, I had the same dream. Even though this film was small, I was getting good fees and the actress’s work was also good for me. I also did ‘Caravan’ with this film.

Big B was also new in films during Bombay to Goa.
Discussion of affair with Mahmud, career was affected
Both Bombay to Goa and Caravan films proved to be hits. Usually after such success, the career of every actress reaches heights, but it turned upside down with Aruna and she stopped getting work. The reason for this was discussions of his affair with Mahmood, which affected his career. Actually, during Bombay to Goa, news of Aruna and Mahmud’s affair started spreading. It was even said that both of them had secretly married, which affected Aruna’s film career and they did not get any work for many years.
In a conversation with Zoom, Aruna said- Me and Mahmood were good friends. We worked together in many films. He taught me to do comedy and I considered him my guru, but false news of marriage ruined my career. My mistake was that I did not give clarification at that time. We should have told the truth in front of the media, but we kept silence.

Aruna and Mahmood did not work together after the news of the affair.
No work was found for two and a half years, then Raj Kapoor supported

Incidentally, Raj Kapoor was present there. He offered Aruna Irani for his film ‘Bobby’ (1973). Raj Kapoor clearly said that this role is not like a session. This is a character whose nature is about to flirt, as some people have a nature. Aruna Irani immediately agreed due to the strict need for work. This was where his second innings started in Hindi cinema.
There was a scene in the film Bobby in which Rishi Kapoor comes out without clothes and dry hair with towels. Aruna Irani was also in this scene. When he had to do this scene, he initially refused, as he felt ashamed. He found it strange to do this scene. Then when Raj Kapoor explained to him what is the need of the scene and there is nothing wrong in it, then she agreed. Later Aruna herself said that Rishi Kapoor did the scene in a good way and this scene was necessary for the film. He had told these things in a conversation with Waves Retro.

Both worked together in many films like Woman, Kashmakash and Bhagwan Dada. When Aruna and Rekha were working together in the film woman, Aruna got a very powerful role, which any actor can dream. Aruna also played that role well, but later Rekha removed the scene from the film.
Rekha had also removed Aruna from another film Mangalsutra. During a conversation with the waves retro channel, Aruna Irani told- I asked the producer why I was removed from the film even after giving a signing amount? So he said that Rekha ji did not want you to stay in the film. When I asked Rekha about this, he said- ‘Aruna, if you do this role emotionally, then I will start to get a vamp in the film.’ So they removed me from the film.

Rekha and Aruna have worked in three films together.
Was tying up at one time

He also played intelligent and effective roles on TV, which showed the real strength of his acting. She never tied himself in one image, that is why she could maintain respect and identity in the film industry for a long time.

Aruna is also known for her dance.
Married to married filmmaker, said- did not want to break anyone’s house
Aruna Irani met Kuku Kohli on the set of the film Koharam (1991). At that time Kuku Kohli was the director of the film and Aruna was Irani actress. Initially, the two did not get good, because Kuku Kohli used to wait for all the artists until Dharmendra’s arrival, which was angry with Aruna, as she was working together in many films, but then on the set, there was a good friendship between the two and then gradually the friendship turned into love. After this, in 1990, Aruna quietly married Kuku Kohli. Kuku’s first wife died after marriage.
Aruna Irani said in a conversation with ‘ANI’ that when a marriage breaks, people often blame the woman, while the real responsibility is for the husband to keep his wife happy. He admitted that it is not easy to maintain a relationship with a married man.
