The husband, wife and Panga show on Colors premiered from August 2. During this, Jio Star President Alok Jain had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. He told about the theme and concept of the show. Also, on completion of 17 years of Colors Channel, it also talked about its achievements.
Alok Jain said, in the last 17 years, Colors has made the society aware through many stories. We have given priority to content that makes the audience think and bring positive changes. Apart from this, he also gave updates about Bigg Boss 19.
Colors have completed 17 years. During this time many such stories were shown, which show the truth of society. What is thinking behind it?
With the introduction of Colors in 2008, it has always been our effort to bring such stories to the audience which are bold, associated with society and reveal some social truth. Our aim is not just entertainment, but also changing the society.
For example, through the girl bride, we showed the ill effects of child marriage. The purpose behind shows like Lado, Udaan and Dori was to bring out the important issues of society and make people aware. Through these stories, we are trying to make the audience think and make the society aware.

Do you think there has been a difference between the stories of earlier shows and today’s shows? Apart from this, people are now waiting for more reality shows than daily soap?
I don’t think there has been such a big difference. These are just things to say. According to me, both daily soap and reality shows have their own audience. The only difference is that the conversation about reality shows is more, so it seems that their demand is more. But if the story is strong, daily shows are equally preferred. Our effort is always that the audience should be told new and interesting stories.
Do you think the arrival of OTT platforms has reduced people’s interest in TV?
No, not at all. I believe that even today about 85 crore Indians watch TV every month, while the number of OTT audience will be half of it. People watch TV for 4 to 5 times more than daily. Often we feel that the craze of OTT is more, because we make a full picture by looking at the environment around us. But the truth is that even today TV is the biggest medium in the country. Viewers watch both platforms, but the scope of TV is still more.
Has husband, wife and Panga also brought from the same thinking as a comedy show, as the Kapil Sharma Show and Laughter Chefs were brought earlier?
The Kapil Sharma Show was started by Colors many years ago and after that we also launched some more comedy shows. Recently brought Laughter Chefs, which tried to give people a new experience of cooking with comedy. It is always our endeavor that the audience be entertained, be happy and they get to see something new.
There was a time in the middle when there was no big comedy show other than Kapil Sharma on TV. Now Kapil show also comes on Netflix, so through shows like husband, wife and Panga it is our endeavor to give a new angle to comedy through relationships, so that the audience also gives laughter in a light way.
There were reports about Bigg Boss whether it would come on Colors or not. What would you say on this?
See, Bigg Boss will come on both Colors and OTT platforms. As far as rumors are concerned, it is common with any big show. The bigger shows, there are discussions about it. Bigg Boss is a show, which the more things that are about, the better it is.
Will the audience now get to see something new on Colors?
Husband, wife and Panga have recently been launched. Apart from this, next month we are bringing a new show Manpasand’s wedding. Usually people consider ‘favorite wedding’ as just love marriage, but the concept of this show is slightly different. In this, we will show that such a marriage in which not only boys and girls like each other, but both families are also happy with this relationship. The same real ‘favorite wedding’ is.
