Actor Shad Randhawa has played the role of Rockstar Prince in Mohit Suri’s film Saira. He appears in almost every film of Mohit Suri. Recently, during a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Shad talked about his relationship with Mohit Suri. It also told that despite being related to the film family, he had to struggle a lot in the industry.
Your screen presence in the film Saira is low, but your character is very strong. What did you prepare for this?
I was already trying to do something different. At the same time, director Mohit Suri notices my hard work and dedication. Perhaps he sent some pictures of me to Yash Raj Films casting director Shanu Sharma ji. After this, I got a call from Shanu ji and he told me about this role.
After this we did workshops, understood the character and prepared for that. When everyone felt that I am fine for this character, then I got this role.
An interesting thing related to this character was that we were trying different looks. There was a time when we considered a long haired style like ‘Rockstar’. But when we were testing that look in the makeup room, then Mohit Sir came and said that this look is not freezing. Then we tried corner hairstyle and everyone liked it. In the end the same look was finalized.

What is your special relationship with Mohit Suri, which you are part of every film?
I consider myself very lucky that directors like Mohit Suri trust me. Our friendship is quite old and will remain further. But I want to make it clear that the basis of our professional relationship is not just friendship. We also have a creative connection among us. Our thinking about films and music is found in many cases. Whenever we listen to a film or song, we discuss it, which has created a comfort zone among us.
However, Mohit never gives me a role just because of friendship. For example, when the film was becoming a half girlfriend, I had given workshops and auditions. But when Mohit and Mukesh ji felt that I was not fit for that character, they did not cast me. So friendship is its place, but professional life is its place.
Have you ever told Mohit Suri that your screen presence should have been more in the film Saira?
See, such things often happen between every actor and the director. Every actor feels that his role should have been a bit bigger. Sometimes it seems that a scene was cut off which could live in the film.
I am a friend of Mohit Suri, but it is not that I say nothing. These things happen in the mind of every actor and are also shared with the director. But in a positive way without any quarrel. Actually, even though there are some differences on the set, but as soon as we come out of the set, we forget all the complaints and become friends again.

Do you think the title of ‘Saira’ should have been ‘Aashiqui 3’? Also, there is any update about ‘Saira 2’?
No, I don’t think so at all. Seeing the film he wrote, which has been made and the way it has gone, it seems that its title should have always been ‘Saira’. As far as ‘Saira 2’ is concerned, only makers can give better information about this. I have no updates on this.
Many videos of Karthik Aryan’s upcoming film are going viral. But the title of the film has not been revealed yet. Can this film be ‘Aashiqui 3’?
May be, but I have no information about it. It has been heard that Anurag Basu is directing this film. He is one of the finest directors of this era, so whatever film will be fantastic. Seeing your work with Emraan Hashmi, fans want to see both of you and Mohit Sur together again. How long will this hope be fulfilled?
God should do this. The demand for the audience reached the makers and became a project. I also feel that the three of us will be a very good combination.
You are from a film family, yet you had to struggle a lot. Have you ever benefited from it?
No, I did not get any special benefit of being from the film family. Yes, it was definitely that when I went to Mahesh Bhatt Saheb to meet Mukesh ji, he knew which family I belonged to. Apart from this, I did not get any special benefit. I used to go to his office for work. After a lot of struggle, about 2-3 years later, Mohit offered me the film. Since then, our relationship was also formed. We also met on the set.
