Can you expect another National Award for this character?
In response to this question, Mithun Mithun Chakraborty said-
We sent the Bengali film ‘Kabuliwala’ for the National Award. I was told that once the Dadasaheb Phalke Award will not be given the National Award. Because Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the largest. I was told that after this I will have to try for the Oscar Award. Nothing will be found here
The film is made on a short story written by Rabindranath Tagore.
Mithun played Rahmat in ‘Kabuliwala’
The story of the film ‘Kabuliwala’, released on 22 December 2023, revolves around a unique friendship between an Afghan person Rahmat and a little girl from Kolkata. In this film, Mithun Chakraborty plays Rahmat, who spends himself by selling dry fruits on the streets of Kolkata. He befriends a five -year -old girl Mini. The film is based on the short story ‘Kabuliwala’ written by Rabindranath Tagore. In 1961, another film was made Kabuliwala, with Balraj Sahni in the lead role.
First National Award for the film ‘Mrigaya’

Mithun Chakraborty received the National Award for the second time for the Bengali film ‘Tahdar Katha’. Directed by Buddhadev Das Gupta, in this film, Mithun Chakraborty played a Freedom Fighter Shibnath who continued to fight for his last time to liberate India from the British. Meanwhile, a British officer is killed by Shibnath, for which Shibnath is sentenced to 11 years. When Shibnath comes out of jail, the whole world has changed because the country is broken in two parts. After the partition, what problems Shibnath has to face, this is shown in this film.

Third National Award for the film ‘Swami Vivekananda’
Mithun Chakraborty appeared in the role of Guru Ramakrishna of Swami Vivekananda in this biographical drama film ‘Swami Vivekananda’, directed by GV Iyer. The film could not be released in theaters due to any reason. It was premiered on National Channel Doordarshan. Mithun Chakraborty won the third National Film Award for his career as the best supporting artist for this film.
Last year Dadasaheb was awarded the Phalke Award
Mithun Chakraborty was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on 8 October 2024. President Draupadi Murmu gave him this honor. For outstanding contribution in the development of Indian cinema, celebrities honored with this award are provided with a gold lotus medal, a shawl and a cash amount of one lakh rupees. The award was started in 1969 in honor of Dada Saheb Phalke, who is called the father of Indian cinema, which is awarded every year.
