Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film The Bengal files released on 5 September are not being allowed to be released in West Bengal despite the approval from the Censor Board. Now the first screening of this film will be held tomorrow i.e. on September 13 at 4 pm in Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhasha Bhavan, National Library, Kolkata. This news has been officially shared by former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta.

This screening will be close-door, where entry will be available only on invitation. The move came when the film was not released in theater in West Bengal. At the same time, this film is being appreciated across the country because it brings out an important but unseen story of India’s history. In Bengal, curiosity about the film is continuously increasing and private screenings are being organized despite the theater not showing.

In an interview, Vivek Agnihotri told how The Bengal files are not getting a place in the cinema halls due to political pressure. He said- We had opened advance booking and theaters were also finalized. My distributors told me. Distributors in Bengal were from different religions. It was about to create history. But now I have come to know that theaters are refusing to show the film because they are afraid that political disturbance may arise.

The story and direction of The Bengal files is done by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, while it is produced by Abhishek Aggarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. It will feature Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar in important roles. The film is the third episode of Vivek’s well -known ‘Tooth Trilogy’, which brings light on the truth related to the black history of India. Prior to this, Vivek Agnihotri has made The Kashmir files and The Tashkent Files.
