Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film The Bengal files are scheduled to release on September 5, although the film is being opposed in West Bengal due to a sensitive issue. Now Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has released a video, giving a message to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and demanded not to ban the film.
Vivek Agnihotri released a video directly addressing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said, ‘Chief Minister, this video is for you. My film will be released worldwide, but such an atmosphere is being created that it will be banned in Bengal. There is so much political pressure on the theater owners that they are afraid to show the film. Due to this fear, our trailer was not shown in theaters on August 16. When we tried to launch it in the hotel, the police came and stopped it. ‘
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri alleges that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers are constantly demanding the film to ban the film and many fake FIRs have also been lodged against him. He has appealed to Mamata Banerjee to rise above personal and political differences and allow the film to be released peacefully.
Agnihotri said in his message that the Constitution of India gives freedom of expression to every citizen and it is the responsibility of Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister to protect this right. He reminded that the film has been passed by the censor board and it is now the constitutional duty of the state government to release it.
He further said that India has suffered slavery and atrocities for 1200 years. There were attacks on our culture, religion and art. The most painful chapter in this is from Bengal, where there were terrible accidents like Direct Action Day and Noakhali genocide. He says that if these incidents had not happened, then perhaps India would not have been partitioned.
He raised the question that when every child knows about the Holocaust, slavery and the tragedy of Hiroshima-Nagasaki worldwide, why is Indian children kept unaware of the suffering of Bengal? Is it a crime to make a film on this painful history?
Agnihotri made it clear that The Bengal files are not against any religion or community, but it is against the forces who have damaged humanity and still want to keep lies alive. He says that this film gives the message of truth and healing, not hate.
Through the video, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri appealed to Mamta Banerjee with folded hands and said,
I appeal to you with folded hands, please do not ban this film. Look at this film, understand, debate on it, but don’t hide the truth. India is the only nation of Hindus in the whole world. So can they not talk about their own house, their pain, their pain, their agony? The truth of Bengal is the truth of India. If we do not tell the story of Direct Action Day and Noakhali, then who will speak? If you do not speak now, when will you speak? If you are afraid of truth, the mirror is not broken. Breaking the mirror does not change the face. Nevertheless, if you feel that it is a crime in India itself, to speak the truth of Hindu history, Hindu genoside, yes, I am a guilty. ‘The Bengal Files’ is already in controversy before its release. The film is being strongly opposed in West Bengal. Meanwhile, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri launched the trailer of the film in Kolkata. However, there was a lot of uproar in the event and the trailer was stopped.
